Aylesbury students to travel to Thailand and China through Turing program

The Turing Scheme is a government initiative to fund international education and training opportunities around the world.

It aims to develop ‘Global Britain’ by supporting UK organizations in higher education, vocational education, training and schooling by providing their students with life-changing experiences for study or work abroad.

The proposed Turing activities will take students’ specialist subjects to a new level.

Computer science students will experience manufacturing research and development at the main computer manufacturing hub in Bangkok, Thailand.

Meanwhile, building studies students will focus on construction techniques in Beijing, China. Hosts in both cities are major providers of vocational training in computer science and construction engineering.

Sarah Valentine (principal) learned that the Bucks UTC app was accepted in August and that trips launched to students on September 24, with students due to complete their tours in 2022.

Sarah Valentine said, “We want our students to experience short-term internships in Asian business centers in Bangkok and Beijing.

“They will witness the energy of Asia, the immense wealth and the great disparity of Asian society.

“We want to inspire them and their future destinations to secure a place in an apprenticeship leading to a diploma or an academic place focused on technical careers in the UK and abroad.”

Bucks UTC has successfully hosted a number of international tours over the past few years.

This experience improves students’ motivation, independence, aspirations and understanding of international cultures, giving them a significant advantage when pursuing studies, apprenticeships or employment.

UTC Dollars organizes open days for those who wish to join from September 2022, the first is on Saturday October 16 and the second on Thursday December 2.
