Our teachers are amazing, which is why we share a school’s teacher of the year story every week … help us celebrate the Academy of Fine Arts Teacher of the Year! Hasty Elementary School Arts 2021, Cristin Bell!
Cristin Bell, Teacher of the Year at Hasty Elementary School of Fine Arts, comes from a long line of educators⦠not just for a generation or two, but since the 1800s.
As the teaching runs from the roots to the leaves of her family tree, Ms. Bell first worked in banking and as a school district secretary and tech specialist before answering the call she had been hearing ever since. long in the family business.
For the past 15 years, she has followed her vocation to teach, which her colleagues, parents and alumni attest to be her true path⦠and that they are incredibly grateful for the positive difference she has made by following it.
“She is a winner, a problem solver, an innovator and a dynamic faculty member,” explained a colleague. “She teaches her students to strive for excellence, to love learning and to respect each other.”
Regarded as a master teacher and mentor by her colleagues, Ms. Bell, who teaches English, is also known for her support of after-school programs. The manager of the Hasty Drama Club and the coach of the Reading Bowl are among his additional hats. âMs. Bell’s approach to both activities allows students of all abilities to grow as young people, preparing them for a strong future,â said a parent of a former student. “We are very grateful for the two years our son spent with Ms. Bell. He is a better person because of it.”
In her own words: âI take great pride in when students can feel connected and engaged in the classroom. When students are happy to come to school and are willing to trust me in the process of their learning, I am successful. ”
