Professor Rama, Principal of Hansraj College announced several initiatives and released the logo of ‘Amrit Varch’ one-year celebration of the founding of the college’s platinum jubilee. The principal said the college plans to establish centers for environmental conservation, women’s development, human resource development, and wellness and rehabilitation within the campus.
She informed reporters that the college will fund 25 research projects to be carried out by faculty members and will organize 75 seminars, conferences and workshops in the various departments and societies of the college nationally and internationally. The college also plans to organize cultural programs, competitions and related activities throughout the year.
According to the principal, this year a new science block, a canteen and a research center will be inaugurated. Additionally, an art gallery will be built on the college campus this year and the college plans to mount a special exhibit commemorating 75 years of its history as an institution. The college also plans to insure all of its students through group insurance. In order to promote research, innovation and skill development among students, the college will ensure easy access to cutting-edge developments in various fields of knowledge.
The commemoration of the college’s founding day Amrit Mahotsav will begin with the unveiling of a statue of Mahatma Hansraj on the college campus and will mark the start of a series of academic and cultural events. The college plans to invite prominent scholars for the Mahatma Hansraj Memorial Lecture Series throughout the year. The college further plans to congratulate 75 of the college’s alumni in recognition of their contribution to the corporate life of the institution.
In addition, this year the college also plans to organize ‘Rashtriya Ekta Samagam’, ‘Rashtriya Khel Samagam’, ‘Pustak Mela’ and ‘Bhartiya Bhasha Sammelan’. Mahatma Hansraj Platinum Jubilee Scholarships in the fields of education, sports and extracurricular activities will also be awarded to college students.
The principal further informed reporters that the college library, auditorium, amphitheater, laboratories and other main structures will be named after illustrious Indian thinkers. As part of the ‘Gynan Setu Pariyojna’Hansraj College will extend its guidance to regional colleges in remote parts of the country to improve the quality of education and lead their growth as institutions.
The Honorable Vice President of India, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu will be the chief guest at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Amrit Mahotsav Foundation Day celebrations of Hansraj College on July 26, 2022. The Principal mentioned that alongside the Vice President of India, the program will be attended by eminent dignitaries including Professor Yogesh Singh, Vice Chancellor of Delhi University, Punam Suri, Chairman of the Management Committee of Hansraj College, Shiv Raman Gaur, Treasurer of Hansraj College.
