The e-learning and educational technology industry has seen meteoric growth in K-12 and tertiary education during the COVID-19 pandemic, where institutions that traditionally taught face-to-face have been forced to switch online using various technological tools such as learning management. Center Director of SEAMEO Voctech Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar explained how the training was designed to ensure that educators are better prepared to implement the LMS in their training, to overcome the challenges posed to the teaching and learning that has resulted in unprepared and ineffective online teaching and learning management. , professional development and support for teachers in the use and implementation of technology and pedagogy in the online classroom.
He said this as the regional TVET hub, SEAMEO Voctech, concluded its final virtual regional training program for the exercise by honoring 23 participants from 10 SEAMEO countries – Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Republic of Indonesia, Lao PDR , Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam – with certification for completing training on “Effective Application of Learning Management System in Online Teaching and Learning”.
Lao PDR Board Member, Deputy Director General of Technical and Vocational Education Department, Ministry of Education and Sports, Lao PDR Saykham Phantavong was the guest of honour.
Deputy Director of Administration Pengiran Haji Mohamad Sufri bin Pengiran Ali; Instructional designer and content editor and course coordinator, Dr. Foo Sze Yeng, and other SEAMEO Voctech executives and managers were also present.
