A Louisville Metro Police officer shot in the face last year is suing the Kentucky Department of Corrections. Officer Chris Lane was shot in November while working at a construction site on Interstate 264 in Shively. Police say Keyshaun Stewart, who was on probation for a 2019 conviction, also shot construction worker Fred O’Bannon. Lane’s lawsuit claims Stewart should have been in jail for violating parole when he was arrested in Tennessee earlier in the year. He claims that Stewart’s parole officer knew about the arrest and did not report it, and as a result Lane suffered physical and mental pain and suffering. He seeks punitive damages.
