The Catholic Schools Office (CSO) is responsible for the direction, operation and management of coeducational schools which educate over 21,000 students in 58 schools in the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.

Serving the communities of Newcastle, Maitland, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens and Hunter Regions, our Catholic schools ensure that every student receives a quality education in a supportive environment and has the opportunity to grow academically, spiritually, physically and emotionally. .

In addition to a challenging academic program, students can apply their unique skills and interests in a variety of extracurricular activities.

Some of these include social justice initiatives, STEM, music, drama, visual arts, debates, public speaking, and representative sport.

Our students benefit from excellent facilities, such as state-of-the-art learning centers and libraries, sports spaces, laboratories and STEM workshops.

Other facilities include theatres, industrial kitchens and cafes in our secondary schools for those studying vocational education and training (VET) courses.

We strongly believe that all students have the right to a safe and supportive school environment where they feel comfortable, relaxed and valued.

Our schools offer several programs to ensure that the transition to school, at any stage, is a smooth and positive experience for all students and their families.

Enrollment is open to all, from kindergarten through 7th grade and up to 12th graders, in all Catholic schools in the Maitland-Newcastle communities.
