JEDDAH — The Music Commission on Monday launched an extracurricular activity called “Music Culture” in Saudi schools with the cooperation of the Ministry of Education.
The new initiative will provide enrichment content on the “Madrasati” platform, the online education platform, with the aim of providing interested students with a clear idea of music, note writing skills music and learn techniques from international artists.
It will also enable students to understand and differentiate popular musical styles in the Kingdom, and identify musical instruments.
The activity covers several topics and general definition in each episode with detailed explanation of technical concepts, theories and rules, selections of various musical instruments, their classification, manufacture and playing technique.
The activity will cover different topics in virtual classes on the Madrasati platform, such as “a brief on some musical personalities” and “Saudi musical heritage”. This will introduce students to the different traditional musical styles of different regions of the Kingdom.
It should be noted that the 2022 school year saw the inclusion of 100 private music schools in its programs, with the Ministry of Culture supporting the schools by providing musical instruments and providing the necessary support to the development of students’ basic artistic skills.
