THurston County is teeming with skilled builders, renovators and designers. Olympia Master Builders (OMB) and Olympia Federal Savings (OlyFed) are both proud to partner with these industry leaders and look forward to recognizing their hard work and expertise. To do this, Olympia Master Builders holds an annual event to showcase local housing projects with OlyFed as the title sponsor for many consecutive years. The 21st Annual Home Visit will be held on Saturday July 24 and Sunday July 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to the public. If you are looking to build, renovate, rent or buy a home, this event is for you!
Olympia Master Builders has long been committed to supporting professionals in the home construction industry. Their main mission is to promote affordable housing in all economic sectors, and through this they also offer many programs that benefit builders, associate members and the whole community. “We do a lot of advocacy on behalf of our members,” says Jill Williams, communications director for Olympia Master Builders. “We provide training for builders on the industry and the legislation, and also have the opportunity to spotlight our members. “
One of the ways OMB does this is through the Tour of Homes, which is a free, self-guided tour showcasing local housing projects built by Thurston County building professionals. This annual event began in 2000 and has been a wonderful way to showcase the incredible work of our local builders, renovators and designers. OlyFed quickly intervened to support this event. “It has been our pleasure and honor to support Olympia Master Builders and its member builders,” said Barbara Whitlow, Residential Relations Manager for OlyFed and proud chair of the Tour of Homes committee.
This year, the tour will feature five sites, including a solar project, two renovation projects, a model home for a new residential development and a luxury multi-family apartment complex. All of these projects are located right here in Thurston County and will be hosted by the builders, designers and staff themselves. “You have the opportunity to meet the people behind the projects,” explains Barbara. The tour will also kick off with its very first Tour Center, proudly hosted by Builders FirstSource. “Start your visit by going to this site first,” Jill encourages. “You can enjoy coffee and donuts while exploring the products and services as well as the various showrooms.”
OlyFed will have a table at the tour hub on the first day of the event from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., where you can learn more about loans for construction projects. “Stop by the OlyFed table for information on financing a purchase, renovation, energy renovation, new construction or real estate package,” explains Barbara. “We have amazing construction loans for all of your needs. They’ll also serve delicious ice cream courtesy of Sofie’s Scoops Gelateria, so be sure to grab some while supplies last!
Since the event is self-guided, tabs will be available to allow attendees to visit all five sites at their leisure. These tabs will be available the week of July 19 in digital and physical version
formatting. To get your tab, visit the OMB website to download it or stop by any OlyFed location to pick up your copy. Tabs will also be available on Builders FirstSource on the first day of the event. Throughout the tour, participants will have the chance to vote for their favorite project. “There will be awards given to builders based on people’s choice,” says Jill. Anyone who submits a poll will be entered to win a Traeger Grill from Builders First Source, so be sure to vote!
With such a large representation in this year’s Tour des Maisons, this event is perfect for anyone interested. “Whether you are looking out of curiosity or are moving or building, there is a little something that everyone gets excited about,” Jill says. Be sure to mark your calendar for this exceptional event so you can see these wonderful projects for yourself!
